Israel's Incredibly Free Press
Yair Rosenberg captures Avi Mayer's recounting of a press event that proves just how free Israel's press is. Netanyahu invited journalists to his office for a several hour Q&A. One of the journalists went on to write a scathing article about Netanyahu without fear; in neighboring countries the journalist would find himself on the end of a rope.

More Arab Israelis join national service, discovering state benefits, patriotism
Israeli military service is compulsory for Jewish citizens, and those who receive exemptions may qualify for "national service." Some non-Jews historically join the Israeli military in large numbers, such as Druze and Bedouin, but not many non-Jews traditionally enter Israeli national service. This trend appears to be changing, as a larger than ever number of Arabs are joining Israel national service and enjoying patriotic feelings and government benefits.
